Property description
Set at the end of a little lane with no passing traffic the cottage offers privacy in a peaceful and relaxing setting, with 2 acres of beautiful garden and woods. This traditional stone built farmhouse has been tastefully renovated to retain its original charm yet provide modern comforts and amenities, with a new 10m x 5m swimming pool. Despite the restful setting, you are only 3Km from the historic village of Bourdeilles with its 11th Century Chateau, and 15km from the picturesque town of Brantôme.
Bourdeilles is exceptionally pretty with its chateau and Roman bridge over the picturesque river Dronne. Tennis courts, canoeing, shops, restaurants and all main services are available.
Brantôme is a market town known as the 'Venice of the Dordogne'. This town has one of the oldest abbeys in France. There are excellent shops, hotels and restaurants, and an interesting Friday market.
The house is approximately 250 years old, and has been restored to a high standard from an original cow byre and cellars with living accommodation above. The old beams remain, but warm wooden floors and local quarry tiles have replaced the earth underfoot!
There is a sunny patio to the side of the house, with shade from an apple tree. The garden slopes down to attractive woods, and in the centre is the swimming pool, built and maintained to a high standard. The pool is enclosed by a security fence for the safety of children.
Ground floor:
Large sitting room, triple aspect, with a large fireplace with wood-burning stove. Exposed stones with original alcoves and beamed ceiling.
Large kitchen, also triple aspect with a quarry tiled floor. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a large farmhouse table. From the dining area there are double doors to the patio and garden.
The cloakroom has a washbasin, WC and washing machine.
First Floor:

Bedroom two has one double and one single bed. Bedroom three has twin beds. The large bathroom has a washbasin, toilet and bath with shower over.
The garden is totally private, and birds and wildlife abound in the natural woodland. A variety of trees provide plenty of shade.
To one side of the house stands an open sided barn, which is used to shelter the car and as a wood store.
The surrounding countryside is green and attractive, with rolling hills. There are many delightful walks from the door.
