THE WHITSUNDAYS is a general term applied to a group of 74 islands which form a protective barrier offshore from the mainland village of AIRLIE BEACH. Sheltered in turn by the Great Barrier Reef the islands commonly have fringeing coral reefs & small sheltered beaches. Combined with a 10-15 knot onshore breeze this creates our world renown sparkling blue, SAFE, sailing & cruising waters.
AIRLIE BEACH has all the usual shops & services, a broad range of restaurants, bars, take-aways (YES - even KFC & McDonalds) whilst retaining its small, friendly village atmosphere.
