Property description
We invite you to sit for a spell on the swing on our large front porch and relax. Take a peek at the large goldfish in our small pond, walk across the wide open landscaped front yard. Enter the house that was the home of E.B. Alling, a well-known Orange City mayor, for over 40 years. You will find the house has been well preserved and is decorated in a comfortable Victorian style that reflects its heritage.
Each room has a private bathroom with oversized towels and fluffy robes for your comfort. The common area on the second floor is available to relax in, watch television, read, and play games or access the internet. This area also contains an ice machine and a small refrigerator with drinks and snacks.
We have three rooms in the main house. All rooms are priced at double occupancy, which means that the cost is the same regardless of whether it is two people or one person.
The Green Room has a private bathroom with a shower and has a queen-sized bed.
The Gold Room has a private bathroom with a shower and has a queen-sized bed. A roll-away bed can be added for an additional charge.
The Rose Room has a very large private bathroom with a shower and a whirlpool tub. It also has a king-sized bed. A roll-away bed could be used here as well.
All rooms have private bathrooms and cable TV. There is also free Internet access. Breakfast is usually served between 8AM and 10AM unless by prior arrangement.
We also have 3 separate cottages that have fully-equipped kitchens with refrigerator, microwave, sink and stove. There are also a washer/dryer units. They all have a private bathroom with a shower. All cottages have cable TV with DVD/VCR and an Internet PC. Since there is a kitchen in the cottage, breakfast is not included, but it can be arranged at additional cost.
The main floor of the Homestead Cottage has a queen-sized bed and a small hide-a-bed couch. There is also a spiral staircase going up to the loft above the kitchen/bathroom areas that has two single beds in it. There is little headroom up there, so it is most convenient for families with children, though adults could manage as well.
The Victorian Cottage is decorated in a Victorian theme with a king-sized canopy bed, electric fireplace, two-person jet tub and queeen hide-a-bed couch.
The Frontier Cottage is decorated with an old west theme with an impressive king-sized western style bed, electric fireplace, two-person jet tub and queeen hide-a-bed couch.
<i>Our Homestead Cottage is 'family-friendly' and well-behaved children at least nine years old are welcome in the main house.

We are 45-75 minutes from the major Florida tourist theme parks.Daytona Beach and the Speedway are 30-40 minutes away and New Smyrna Beach is 30 minutes away. Historic downtown Deland and its many antique shops is 5 miles away with the Deland Airport being nearby and available for skydiving and hot air balloon rides. Blue Spring State Park and the St. John's River are 3 miles away. Many, many people come to see the manatees that spend the winter in Blue Spring. We have arrangements with many local restaurants and businesses that give our guests discounts on goods and services. We can arrange for golf outings, dinner cruises and hot air balloon rides.
