Property description
This historic two storey double brick Victorian mansion was built in 1891 to house the London Chartered Bank. In 1893 it became the London Bank of Australia and later the English Scottish and Australian Banking Company. In 1942 the building was taken over by Goldsborough Mort the Stock and Station Agents.
The 50 square building consists of a Managers office, strong room and a large banking chamber with magnificent old cedar doors also with leadlighting. The residence consists of the Managers quarters with a large dining room complete with cedar dining table, sideboards and a marble fireplace. Ascending the stairs there are two bedrooms with cedar trim, a fully modernised bathroom complete with spa bath and a sitting room that opens onto the balcony overlooking the main street of Hay. The building has been beautifully maintained by the present owners. A travelled family ourselves, we can appreciate your needs when in a strange environment and have equipped our B&B to accommodate your needs.
