Property description
Arles is a charming historic home built in the 1880s and set in 2 acres of mature gardens full of native birds. Arles offers a warm welcome, comfortable beds and a hearty breakfast in a home away from home atmosphere. The centrally-heated homestead has 2 ensuite rooms (1 with private balcony) and a 2-bedroom family unit with private bathroom (clawfoot bath with hand-held shower). The rooms all have toiletries and fresh flowers along with tea/coffee facilities, hair dryer and electric blankets.

Guests in the house have their own lounge with complimentary wine or sherry, fully-equipped kitchen and laundry facilities. All guests are welcome to browse through the well-stocked library full of books and board games and a guest computer (broadband/wireless) for checking those emails etc. Outside is a saltwater swimming pool and barbecue.

Additional information
Wanganui is known as the 'River City' as it is built around the Whanganui River which is the longest navigable river in New Zealand. There are many activities available on the river including canoeing and jet boating. Probably the most famous trip would be to the Bridge To Nowhere. For a more laid back afternoon try the 2-hour journey on the Paddlesteamer 'Waimarie'. Wanganui is also becoming renowned for its arts and hosts many art galleries and studios.
The city has many parks and sports grounds including 3 golf courses.
The city is one of New Zealand's oldest and has many buildings dating from the mid-to-late 1800s. With the buildings restored and painted in heritage colours, and the main street lined with hanging baskets full of colourful flowers, Wanganui city presents itself as one of the prettiest in New Zealand.
