We are located close to the Superior hiking trail and many cross country ski trails and snowshoeing trails. |

Enchanting Baird Cottage is a 10 sided structure with over 500 square feet of living quarters and private bath. Comfortable English country furnishings including a king-sized bed, wing-back chairs and patchwork quilt provide a cozy, restful environment. For your enjoyment there is a TV/VCR and audio system. Awaken in the morning to grand views of Lake Superior. The kitchenette includes a coffee maker, toaster, microwave and refrigerator. You also have direct access to the adjacent side yard, woods and spacious deck areas. In the spacious two room Bell Rock Suite a beautiful queen-size bed and two comfortable chairs overlook the lake. This is our most grand view of Lake Superior. Decorated with fishing memorabilia and lighthouses, the adjacent sitting room provides a cozy space for you to watch your favorite movie, listen to a beautiful CD or play your favorite board game. The suite has a private entrance and en-suite bath with shower. The sitting room can be converted to sleeping quarters for one or two additional people if necessary. The Stonehaven Room evokes the rich history of the North Shore's commercial fishing families. From the lovely decor to the comfortable queen-size featherbed with matelasse quilt and eyelet linens, Stonehaven Room will soothe you. In your room you can relax and enjoy a movie on the VCR or that book you have been wanting to read. From your bedroom, enjoy direct access to the common areas of Skara Brae for afternoon tea or morning coffee and breakfast. There is an adjoining private bathroom. In the main dining room overlooking Lake Superior, a delicious, full breakfast is served each morning at 9am. It is a time to enjoy the company of other guests and also view the incredible beauty of the lake. Freshly ground coffee, English tea and juice along with the daily newspaper are available after 7am each morning. Every afternoon from 4pm to 6pm tea, cookies, and scones are served in the common area. The spacious decks with Adirondack seating and the comfortable living room with open beamed ceiling and chenille sectional sofa are both open to our guests every evening. Sit by the fireplace, play your favorite board game or select from our extensive library of books, CD's and movies to enjoy during your stay. For those who love shopping, Grand Marais is the perfect place to pick up special north woods gifts or to add to your art collection with a work by one of the many artists who call this area home. In Grand Marais, enjoy delicious international cuisine such as freshwater fish from Lake Superior, locally made pizzas, authentic Mexican food, and a large selection of the best pies you will ever taste. Frequently, in the evenings you can see a play at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts, or attend one of the many musical programs brought to us by the North Shore Music Association. |
