Property description
River Trail Country Vacations was built by your hosts in 1999. Every detail has been carefully planned to give you a great Wilderness Vacation Experience with all the comforts of home. Huge picture windows frame a large pond just yards from your door. Keep an eye out for passing wildlife. Beaver, Canada geese, deer and more have been frequently spotted from the deck. Guests have even reported seeing moose grazing in the pond early in the morning. Enjoy sing-along and story telling under star-lit skies at our fire-pit while waiting to view the awesome splendour of the beautiful Northern Lights.
The long slope of the wheel-chair ramp provides easy access to the upper level. From the deck you will enter the main living area. You can create your own meals in our well equipped, fully modern kitchen using the stainless steel cookware provided. Also provided are toaster, coffee maker, grill, micro-wave oven, all dishes and towels. There are also a wheelchair accessible full bath and large bedroom containing a double and a single bed.
Downstairs are two bedrooms, each containing two twin beds. A full bath with stand- up shower and washer/dryer can also be found there along with a large living area with two hide-a-beds, TV and VCR. There is also ground level access to a small patio at the front of the cabin.
For larger groups, there is a small bedroom cabin located at the rear of the main cabin. It has two sets of bunk-beds and a under-counter bar fridge to keep beverages cool. You must use the washroom facilities in the main cabin since this cabin is not plumbed.

Additional information
There are many activities to amuse and entertain you at River Trail. You can design your own custom vacation getaway or you can opt for one of our pre-arranged packages. Scenic tours and day trips can also be arranged.
Some of our guests find it convenient that German translation is available.
You can canoe down the Torch River or golf at the Evergreen Golf Club which is one of the top courses in Canada and is only 30 minutes away. Spend your days fishing for Walleye and Northern Pike on Tobin or Codette Lakes, 30 and 45 minutes away, respectively. In Nipawin you can attend the Vanity Cup, a very prestigious fishing event. The Saskatchewan Premier's Walleye Cup is also an event you won't want to miss.
You can visit local craft stores such as The Love Barn, located in the village of Love or The Arts Of Boreal, in the town of Nipawin. The Living Forestry Museum is also a must-see in Nipawin where you can trace the history of the surrounding area through their antiques and memorabilia. Every July 1st, the museum hosts a special display for Canada's birthday. Included are bread baking in real clay ovens, lumber sawing with a steam powered saw mill and threshing demonstrations using vintage tractors and threshing machines.
Visit exotic animal farms and ranches where animals such as Bison and Elk (Wapiti) are raised. In the Spring and Fall, seeding and harvesting operations can be seen in the area south of us.
For those of you who just want to relax without leaving River Trail, we have a canoe for use on our large on-site pond. There are also 5 km. (3 miles) of hiking trail on site and many miles of virtually unused back roads to explore. Since we are next to the Saskatchewan Northern Provincial Forest, the use of a Global Positioning System (GPS) device is recommended.
For winter visitors, you can ski on the Wapiti ski hill nearby and enjoy the double chair lift and the hills with lots of snow as they have their own snow making equipment. Snowmobilers are welcome at River Trail. You can go snowmobiling through the exhilarating northern stretch of the Trans Canada Trail on well maintained, groomed trails. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are also popular.
After a day of participating in your favorite activities, you can stretch out and relax in the comfort of your own cozy cabin. In the evening you can enjoy sing-along and story telling under star-lit skies at our fire-pit while waiting to view the awesome splendour of the beautiful Northern Lights.
