Enjoy a relaxing and refreshing get-away vacation in a spacious Maine waterfront cottage on a private island off the coast of "Down-East" Maine. If you want to truly experience the peace & harmony of "old Maine"... then this is definitely the best choice in Maine vacation rentals for you! Sit back and enjoy breath-taking sunrises over nearby islands as you sip your morning coffee on the deck and watch the small lobstering village slowly come to life. Live lobsters are delivered to you by local lobstermen and fresh bakery goods are delivered to you by a local baker.
This large (1000 sq/ft), 2-story cottage comfortably sleeps 6 people, is charmingly furnished, and is ideal for two families to share. The 1st floor has a queen bed in one bedroom, and a queen & 2 twin beds in the other. A full bathroom is accessed from the common hallway with a large deck overlooking the ocean. The second floor has a large oak dining table (seats 6) and a fully equipped kitchen. A large, open living area with an easy chair and two couches (one is a fold-out double bed) that opens out to a deck overlooking the ocean and outer islands.

- 10% cleaning deposit (returned if premises left reasonably neat and clean)
- 5% pet fee (Per pet... good, friendly dogs are welcome ... sorry, no cats due to allergies)
- Full balance is due at least 21 days prior to occupancy.

- Full Rental Charge, Cleaning, & Pet fee(s) are returned (in all cases).
- The $250 Reservation deposit (minus a 10% re-booking fee) is returned
(for cancellations made at least 3 weeks prior to rental period).
- The $250 Reservation deposit is credited towards a future stay with us (if cancellation is made less than 3 weeks prior to rental period).

Watch fisherman steaming out to haul and land lobsters from this new Maine waterfront cottage overlooking picturesque Penobscot Bay. A 3-minute walk to the harbor wharf and a 7-minute walk to a beautiful (usually deserted), sandy crescent beach with a volleyball net at one end and bon-fire pit on the other.
A larger sandy cresent beach is just a 20 minute hike (or a 7 minute bike ride) along a dirt road that features gorgeous sweeping views of Criehaven Island (~ 1 mile kayak trip), that is the setting and inspiration of acclaimed writer Elisabeth Ogilvie's "Bennett's Island" book series. Many of these literary works are in the cottage library, including the "Tide" & "The Lover's" Trilogies. <br><br> Explore the many hiking trails to nearby bird sanctuaries, Hemlock forests, rocky ledge points, and other beautiful swimming beaches. Take a boat ride to Matinicus Rock Lighthouse to see the Puffin colonies and the site where the famous heroine lightkeeper, Abbie Burgess, once worked and lived. Prepare for spectacular views of the milky way, planets, stars, and satellites, since Matinicus Island is far from city lights.
