Property description
Come to Ballyreen Cottage and you can watch the sun set over Galway Bay, as the sea is just steps from your door. On a fine day, you will want to reach out and touch the Aran Islands and Connemara, they will seem that close, and the view will take your breath away.
Down a private road resembling a rugged moonscape, you will find remains of ancient ring forts, the gorge of Ballinalackan Castle, the Aran islands and the "fertile rock" which is the Burren, with its wildflowers, subterranean rivers, and boulders left when the Ice Age vanished.
Sound too isolated for you? Don't worry, the village of Doolin is a few short miles away and noted for its traditional music which can be heard in O'Connor's, McGann's, and McDermott's Pubs. Pub grub can be had, and there are several fine restaurants all within walking distance of the village. Fancy a pint or a glass of wine? You can enjoy and not worry about driving, as there are local taxi services available to take you home to Ballyreen Cottage.
A championship golf course awaits in Lahinch, with its beautiful beach, as well as surfing and SeaWorld for the children. The famous Cliffs of Moher are just a few miles away, and can be seen in the distance from the cottage. Walking tours of the Burren are available, ferries run from Doolin to the Aran Islands, fishing is just off the rocks and the area is know for its underground caves which are a favourite with potholers. The spa town of Lisdoonvarna is just down the road, and nearby Fanore, also with a wonderful beach, offers pony trekking.
