This c.1734 National Historic Register Connecticut bed & breakfast is a colonial charmer in Clinton, Connecticut, a quintessential New England shoreline village steeped in colonial history, beautiful harbors, rivers & beaches. Ideally situated on the picturesque Liberty Green of Clinton, CT, once a militia muster field & Revolutionary War encampment visted by General Washington & Lafayette! We are a short stroll to: the quaint village shops, antiquing, restaurants, cafes, coffeehouses, old house museums, live-theater, spas, art galleries, summer concerts/fairs, farmers market, canoe/kayak rental/launch site, fishing spots, and the beach!

From the B&B, take a historic walking tour of the Liberty Green & Main Street Historic Districts, stopping at the Stanton House Museum the Clinton Historical Society Museum ("Old Brick"), The Buell Tool Museum & the Clinton Town Hall Historical Room for lessons on local history, dating back to 1663. Continue on to the antique shops, boutiques & art galleries, enjoy a delicious lunch at Sarba's Fine Art Café at the historic Major General Wright Homestead, and walk to the beautiful town beach at sunset time; at low tide take a long leisurely walk on the sandbars. Evenings, walk to a concert on the green or to a show at the Nutmeg Players Theater at the architecturally significant Clinton Town Hall. Dine at one of the many excellent restaurants in our area.
The next day, tour Chamard Vineyards and then go bargain hunting at Clinton Crossings Premium Outlets and Tanger Outlet Center. If it's Thursday, take in a concert at the Vece Gazebo and on Saturday, the farmers market, and on Sundays don't miss the 2 popular flea markets here. We are 1/2 mile from a canoe/kayak rental launch site as well.
Take a trail ride at Sleepy Hollow Riding Stables or a horse & carriage ride or sleigh ride in the country. Tour Gillette Castle State Park, Hammonassett Beach State Park & Meigs Point Nature Center with 2 miles of sandy beach & 900 acres of nature trails, ride the Essex Steam Train & Riverboat, enjoy a sunset cruise or sightseeing cruise on Long Island Sound or up the Connecticut River, a fishing excursion or enjoy one of Clinton's beautiful nature trails. There are 12 old house museums to choose from within 15 minutes. Visit the charming New England Main Street villages of Madison, Essex, Old Saybrook, Chester, East Haddam, & Deep River. Mystic Seaport, Mystic Attractions, Stonington Borough, Foxwoods & Mohegan Sun Casinos are an easy 30-40 min. ride. You can see a movie at our local cinema, or enjoy a quiet read in the beautiful reading garden of our town library.
Special Events in Clinton, CT:
Memorial Day Parade, Antique Auction in June, Summer Concerts on the Green every Thursday night July & August, Annual Arts & Craft Fair on the Vece Green in July, live theater at the Town Hall Stage all season long. In August is the Art Society Annual Show, Bluefish Festival, and Congregational Church Fair. There is a Library Gala in September and, in December, "Christmas in Clinton" celebrations include historic house tours, a bazaar, caroling, strolling, a Christmas tree decorating contest, town tree lighting, hayrides and more. And all these events are within walking distance of the inn! Call for specific dates as some change yearly.
