Additional information
Situated in a building that was built in the year 1730, on the corner of Rue Beaubourg (famous for its Pompidou Center) and the quiet Rue des Gravilliers, this apartment is simply charming!
The Marais was home to the French aristocracy in Paris, after King Henri IV built the Place des Vosges for his Italian wife, Marie de Medicis. You can visit some of these beautiful residences, such as the musée Carnavalet, or the Archives. The area became disreputable and was gradually deserted by the Parisians when Baron Haussman built his 'new Paris' and everybody wanted to live in new buildings with modern amenities on the new large avenues. However over the last thirty or so years, the Marais has been rediscovered and restored to its former glory, its 'hotels Particuliers' with their beautiful paved courtyards, behind magnificent doorways, majestuous staircases, high ceilings and windows, making beatiful well proportioned rooms, take us to another age.
Just a few streets away from the apartment, you will find a myriad of fashionable shops for clothes or decoration, many trendy bars and restaurants with a bustling street life in the heart of historical Paris. Being so central, it is really an ideal place to explore the city from. You can walk to Notre Dame, Bastille, Place des Vosges, the Pompidou center, the Montorgueil area, or even the Louvre and there is a metro at the end of the street (Arts et Métiers) from which you can go anywhere you like.
