Maison Haute is in the countryside and offers its visitors peace and tranquility. It is in a beautiful, picturesque area on the East side of the department of the Dordogne. Ideally situated for easy access to the main tourists attractions in the area. The Dordogne has many forests; fresh water lakes; rivers and picnic sites. There are nearly a thousand chateaux; fortified churches and medieval villages with lauze (stone) roofs; including our farmhouse at Maison Haute. (The Gite is tiled). We are situated in the Commune of Archignac; Canton of Salignac Eyvigues and our region, historically, dates back to Roman times. A sarcophagus can be seen at the Church at Archignac.
On the Ground Floor: you will find a spacious open plan kitchen/dining area equipped with dishwasher, fridge,freezer and microwave oven. Lounge area with TV and video player. Our TV uses the TPS (french satellite system) which permits the transmission of BBC World (News) and BBC Prime (General) ie: two english speaking channels, as well as numerous french channels.
The First Floor: has a twin bedded room; WC/Shower & Sink. A small second lounge for use as a place for rest and relaxation with a selection of English and French books available on the shelves for your reading pleasure whilst here at Pechaude. Should you wish to do so, instead of the lounge area on the first floor, it is possible to use the settee as a folding double bed, making an additional open-plan bedroom.
On the Second Floor: a large family bedroom with double bed, wardrobe; dressing table and vanity unit. Should parents like their children to sleep in the family bedroom, extra folding single beds are available.Bedding and towels provided
At the back of the Gite, there is a private courtyard, with table; six chairs and a barbecue. There is also a separate laundry room with washing machine; ironing boards; and irons.
Spacious grounds: Large above ground swimming pool (10m x 5m50 x 1m30). Variety of activities to keep children amused, eg: large paddling pool; ball games; swings; table tennis; snooker and billiards. Three mountain bikes, a ladys bicycle and a gents racing bike are available for your use on request.

Places to Visit
There are markets every day throughout the summer season in different villages and towns; including some night markets. Two of our farmers in our Commune offer Auberge meals. These include food from their farms and wine at an all inclusive price. There are many places of archeological; anthropological and historical interest. Some are world famous - Lascaux Caves near Montignac; and Font de Gaume (cave paintings - as mentioned in Jean Auels latest book in the series Clan of the Cave Bears). Our immediate area caters for those interested in nature; walking; cycling; sketching; painting and specialist cooking at a School run by a Semi-finalist in Master Chef.
Weather
The Dordogne, generally, experiences good weather outside of the main holiday season, and is, therefore, ideal for couples desirous of avoiding the hustle and bustle of the months of July and August.
Transport
The property is ideally situated. North West of Maison Haute, Pechaude is Montignac; North East is Terrasson and Brive; South West is Sarlat la Caneda; and South East is Souillac. The overnight car train stops at Brive terminous, and it is about half an hours drive to Maison Haute.
BERGERAC and LIMOGES (90 minutes by car) have airports which accept flights from the UK and other countries. Car hire is available at the airport.
