Property description

Beautiful traditional Perigordine style house nestled amongst the trees at the head of a peaceful secluded valley with a fabulous pool.
This delightful typical Perigordine property is fully renovated to offer luxurious comfort in a delightful setting.

On entering the house from the covered terrace you have the lounge area on your right which has two sumptuous sofas and a large open fireplace.

The whole of the ground floor is light and airy with lots of windows offering natural light.

From the lounge, which has English satellite television, is a doorway that leads to a vestibule area with the main door to the parking area. There is a small private sitting room with a bathroom and separate WC. There is also the master bedroom with a very comfortable king sized bed.

The stairs from the lounge lead up to the two further double bedrooms which both have en suite shower rooms with WC.

The gardens Top

The gardens are a delight and offer plenty of grassy areas for playing and a profusion of well established plants and shrubs, both ornamental and fruit trees and a meadow at the bottom of the valley. On the other side of the valley is a fascinating wild boar farm, where you can often see families of boar running apparently wild (fenced).

The fantastic fenced 10 x 5 meter pool which has a heater for cooler periods is lovely and has gentle steps at one end and a lovely terrace for sunbathing on the sun beds. There is also a solar shower. This pool was installed in the late Autumn of 2006, the owners have spared no expense to make sure this pool is everything you could possibly want.

With the large pool house you will find a superb summer kitchen which is equipped with double gas hob, barbecue and sink. There is also a dining area next to the pool with parasols and outdoor furniture.

There are many areas away from the pool in the garden areas to relax in the shade of the trees and read a good book or just have a few minutes to enjoy the tranquility.

Additional information

Location Top

Nearby attractions include the medieval Bastide villages of Monazite and Villefranche du Perigord. Both villages have small shops, bars/restaurants, banks and post offices. Both also have weekly markets.
We are on the edge of the Cahors wine growing area and close to Bergerac and there are many local vineyards, which offer tastings. Less than an hours drive will get you to Bergerac, Sarlat, Domme, Cahors, Les Eyzies, and Le Bugue to name but a few towns, as well as the river Dordogne. Why not visit the pre-history museum and the chateaux of Castelnaud, with its medieval warfare museum including full size working siege catapult. Closer to home are the chateaux of Biron and Bonaguil.
There are riding stables close by and the nearest 18-hole golf course is within half an hours drive. River canoeing trips are very popular and several local companies organise excursions on the rivers Lot and Dordogne.

Eating! There are some very good restaurants to choose from in nearby Sauveterre, Villefrandhe du Perigord and Monpazier which cater for snacks to haute cuisine.
Markets, shopping and other stuff! As well as the wonderful daily markets in most of the surrounding villages, there are half a dozen large leading supermarkets (E.Leclerc, Casino, Leader Price, Lidl, Intermarch etc.) a short distance away (20km) in Fumel.
The nearest beaches are on the Dordogne and are a short drive 10-15km away. Cenac, Vitrac and Soleil Plage all have beaches where river fishing can be arranged (a permit has to be purchased by the day at the local Marie) and where canoes and kayak can be hired for half or full day descents of the river. Similar facilities are available on the Vezere and Lot rivers.

Nearby at Villefranche du Perigord. Thanks to a rich associative life, Villefranche offers activities all year round. Villefranche and its surroundings are an ideal place to relax, enjoy a preserved nature, the quietness of crystal-clear brooks, and a world-famous gastronomy: confit, cepes, foie-gras, chestnuts.

Villefranche du Perigord is also the starting point to numerous sites to be visited, such as: the fortress of Bonaguil, Chateau de Biron, the dry-stone houses and Bories in Campagnac les Quercy, Sarlat (44 km), Monpazier (20 km), Belves (23 km), Issigeac (40 km), and so many more sites to be discovered in this wonderful region.

There are very good night markets near by at Sauveterre La Lemance on a Tuesday, Salles on a Wednesday and Loubejac on a Thursday which allow you to buy local produce that is then cooked and you sit and eat, drink and be merry along with both locals and visitors making a fantastic night to remember.
