Property description
The district of Sultanahmet, the imperial city centre of both Byzantine and the Ottoman Empire has kept its historical atmosphere. In addition to housing the great monuments of the city, it also exhibits the best examples of traditional Ottoman wooden houses. Among these houses is the NAZ Wooden House Inn, a 130 years-old unique house that has recently restored. An important detail distinguishing NAZ from other wooden houses is that it also contains the remains of an older building made of stone. The older building dates back to the 8th century and is thought to be one of the secondary buildings of the Byzantine Palace. This is preserved in the interior building of NAZ, as are the some of the original Byzantine arches andcolumns.
NAZ Wooden House Inn today serves as a model for traditional housing and accommodation. It has 7 rooms with shower and toilets and we have air conditioning, central heating, cable TV, mini bar and hair-dryer in all the rooms. The daily laundry and self-deposit box services are provided. We request our guests not to smoke in the rooms. It is located in the heart of old Istanbul, only at a walking distance to the most important Byzantine and Ottoman monuments of Istanbul, such as St. Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Hippodrome, Basilica Cistern and not more than 10 minutes to Grand Bazaar.
The interior of the rooms reflects the mystery of Byzantine and classic Ottoman Empire decoration. The terrace of NAZ has a tremendous view of the Sea of Marmara and the Princes Islands on one side and a spectacular view of the Blue Mosque on the other. NAZ Wooden House Inn is in a residential neighborhood, yet it is a few minutes away from top tourist sights of Istanbul, so the guest can see the daily life residents of Sultanahmet in a non-tourist environment. It also has a open terrace where the breakfast is served with a panoramic view of the Blue Mosque, the sea of Marmara and the Princess Islands.
