Welcome to Alderhouse Bed and Breakfast; your place to rest and relax after an exciting day of exploration and adventure here in Alaska's first city, Ketchikan.
Alderhouse is a modern two-story home of contemporary styling enhanced by antique furnishings and natural wood throughout. Large windows offer views of the Tongass Narrows and its traffic of float planes, ferries, fishing vessels and cruise ships. Enjoy your morning coffee and marvel at the general bustle on this unique waterway as well as the beauty of the mountains beyond.
Each of the three bedrooms at Alderhouse welcomes you with handmade quilts, antique furnishings; plenty of pillows, crisp cotton sheets, firm beds with memory foam padding for extra comfort and private baths. Cable television, CD player, radio and alarm, sound machine and robes are in each room. Wireless internet is also available.
The gathering room at Alderhouse is designed for both privacy and sharing time with other guests. Also decorated with antiques, the common room is a space to enjoy your breakfast and quiet moments during your visit. Large windows offer views of the Tongass Narrows and the mountains beyond. You may enjoy watching floatplanes coming and going, ferries docking and fishing vessels and cruise ships motoring past. Inside, artwork by Alaskan artists such as John Ferringer, Byron Birdsall, Barbara Lavalle and Rie Munoz grace the walls, along with selected pieces of Native art and basketry.
At Alderhouse coffee and tea service is available throughout the day as well as complimentary bottled water and sodas. Each evening a special home baked treat is available for your pleasure.
The large deck at Alderhouse provides yet another space to enjoy your vacation down-time. Take a moment to enjoy the peace by relaxing on the deck surrounded by greenery, watching hummingbirds, Oregon juncos, and varied thrushes feed while stately eagles fly overhead. You may note the turtles there in the garden, a gentle reminder to slow down and enjoy the beauty of a moment, a garden or perhaps for you...a day of your vacation when everything was just right.
Alderhouse also provides a refrigerator for guests use along with a chest freezer for fish boxes. Facilities for washing and hanging dive gear are also available.
At Alderhouse a delicious gourmet breakfast is served each morning. Hot and cold beverages are provided though out the day and each evening, a special treat is available for your epicurean pleasure.
