If you love panoramic ocean and mountain views you will love Villa Vista del Mar, perched on a small hill just 125 yards from lovely Cofresi beach. The three front porches and spacious terrace have numerous chaise lounges and rockers... great for watching the sunrise over the ocean, or for enjoying cocktails under the starry sky.
You will find it difficult to pull yourself away from floating in the pool while sipping a pina colada, or from taking a nap in the hammock on the 2nd floor terrace. You can also relax on the massage table as the masseuse works on you. There is a cozy first floor card room popular for doing puzzles or playing games.
Your full time housekeeper, Nelsida, will cook and serve your meals, snacks and drinks and then whisk away the dirty dishes. She will keep the villa tidy and tend to your laundry. All you do is RELAX. When there are 6 or more guests, we provide a second full time maid to ensure everyone receives adequate attention. We want to be certain that our guests enjoy a truly carefree vacation.
Julio, our houseman, keeps our vast gardens, spacious pool, walled terraces and home in pristine condition. He owns a large Toyota Van that he uses to provide airport meeting service for our guests, and he can be hired to run errands.
If you can tear yourself away from the comfort of the villa and attentive maid service, you can walk down our dirt road to our beautiful crescent shaped beach, about 3/4 of a mile from point to point and lined with palm and sea grape trees. The surf is gentle and ideal for swimming. No worries about rip tides, undertow or strong currents. Just wonderful swimming!
If you desire more activity, talk to our tour director about the numerous adventures and outings. You can go on a horseback ride into the mountains, a jeep safari to amazing waterfalls, a catamaran snorkeling trip along the ocean, try white water rafting, ride a cable car up the mountain, take the kids to a go cart park, and much more. There is a Robert Trent Jones golf course and 3 gambling casinos about 6 miles away. Further away, at Playa Grande (about 40 miles) is a fabulous golf course considered the best in the Caribbean. The scenery and views are unbelievable.
Our charming seaside community is now home to "Ocean World", the Caribbean's largest and newest interactive marine aquatic park where you swim with dolphins, snorkel in a huge salt water aquarium, watch sea lions perform, or enjoy a wide variety of other activities. "Ocean World Marina", a 35 acre complex with casino, 5 star fine dining, cocktail lounge, marina, and entertainment club house with Las Vegas style shows is now open as well. All this is just a 10 minute walk from the villa.
Puerto Plata is a great destination for any type of group because there is so much to see and do, and everything is so inexpensive. Babysitters for children cost about $15 for a full day! Wonderful meals at local restaurants start at $10-15 per entree. The Dominican version of 'Cheers' is just down the street at a charming oceanfront thatched-roof restaurant called Chris & Madys.
Playa Cofresi is about 3 miles west of the colorful, historic city of Puerto Plata where you will find tourist sites, shopping and a large farmer's market with abundant fresh produce and lots of local crafts. We are just 15 miles west of the Puerto Plata Int'l Aiport (POP) on the north coast. Service is also available from the Santiago Int'l airport (STI) but that is 60 miles away and a 1 1/2 hour trip.
Villa Vista Del Mar is ideal for large families or groups of friends because there is plenty of room to spread out in comfort and peaceful privacy. It has the usual family 'stuff' like DVD's and VHS tapes, games and puzzles, assorted paperback books and pool toys. There is also furniture for little ones; a crib, high chair, changing table, booster seat, guard rail, life jackets and a special gate to secure the dining porch from the pool area.
Playa Cofresi is ideally located for all types of vacationers... Stay in our lovely cove and enjoy the local amenities, or use it as a base to explore the many interesting sights along the North Coast. Either way, you are bound to have fun.
You'll find the Dominicans are well-deserving of their reputation for friendliness and hospitality; they go out of their way to make you feel welcome in their country. It doesn't matter if you don't speak Spanish. Guests have always managed and enjoyed the experience of being exposed to the culture of this beautiful country and its people.
