The spring brings a burst of lilacs which surround the house and when the weather gets warm, there is a front porch with an old-fashioned swing so you can relax and watch the world go by. Fortified for adventure, enjoy the area's many attractions. Bike, walk, or ski the lovely Cannon Valley Trail depending on the season — 10 miles to Welch Village or all 20 miles to Cannon Falls. Play some golf on one of our championship courses — Mississippi National, Frontenac or Red Wing Country Club.
Enjoy a stroll through historic downtown Red Wing to Levee Park and watch one of the grand old riverboats dock. Stop at the Visitor and Convention Bureau, located in the restored Milwaukee Road Depot, and find out about other area attractions and special events — like an old fashioned Fourth of July celebration with band concerts, flag-waving, and of course, fireworks. Or join us for River City Days, the first weekend in August. You can watch the old-fashioned parade right from our own front porch.
Late afternoon... the perfect time to return to the Inn and enjoy a frosty glass of iced tea or lemonade and freshly baked cookies while sitting in a comfortable rocker on the front porch. In late fall or winter, curl up by the fire with a favorite book and sip a cup of fragrant mulled cider or steaming hot chocolate.
Evening brings more opportunities to enjoy the area's many restaurants. Then take in a live performance at the Sheldon Theater, a restored architectural gem... or try your luck at the gaming tables at Treasure Island Casino, just a short drive from Red Wing. Whenever you decide to call it a day, your cozy room at the Candlelight Inn will be waiting for you.
