La Gilardie is set in a very small, quiet hamlet, surrounded by fields, woods and lakes in the ancient Forêt de la Double. The cottage has a large, beamed living room comfortably furnished with a 3 piece suite, coffee table, dining table with chairs, TV (French), VCR, radio/CD/tape Hi-Fi. In one corner is the fully equipped kitchen with 4-ringed cooker, oven and hood, microwave oven, refrigerator with small freezer, coffee machine, iron and board, toaster and an electric kettle.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms, one with a king-sized bed (1.80m), dressing table with a large mirror, 2 bedside tables and a large wardrobe. The second bedroom has 2 single beds, wardrobe and bedside table with a high mirror on the wall.
The bathroom has a shower, WC and handbasin, and because there is plenty of room, we have put the washing machine in the bathroom.

The cottage has a private terrace with table and chairs, a swing, a BBQ and an electrically operated sunroof. The small private garden has several loungers and reclining chairs, and the large, 1 acre garden with old trees and natural pond is shared with the owners. There is plenty of space for a siesta or room enough for children to kick a ball around.
La Gilardie is the perfect place to relax, recharge your batteries and enjoy the sights and sounds of a beautiful, unspoiled countryside.
There are possibilities for swimming in rivers, lakes or public swimming pools, riding, playing tennis, taking long (or short!) walks, or hiring kanoes.
We are surrounded by medieval villages with their old stone houses, narrow lanes and often beautifully preserved roman churches, well worth exploring. An hour's drive or less can take you to the busy market towns of Ribérac (25 min), Périgueux (55 min), Angoulême (60 min) or Chalais (20 min) to enjoy the traditional French markets. Nearby Aubeterre, one of the most beautiful villages in France, has the largest monolithic church in Europe. A visit to this ancient monument will leave you certainly with unforgettable memories.
