Property description
La Cachette is close to Sarlat and Domme, in the heart of the Perigord Noir region of the beautiful Dordogne. Situated in an elevated position overlooking the village of Grolejac with wonderful views down to the Dordogne valley. The river winds its way past the village.
La Cachette sleeps 4 to 5 people in 2 large comfortable double rooms with exposed beams and seating. The rooms are named after two of the local chateaux:
Montfort: Large double with wonderful view and large private shower room with toilet and washbasin.
Fenelon: Large double (with additional single bed), ensuite shower room with toilet and washbasin. Views across to wooded hills.
Our generous continental breakfast is served on the terrace on or in the beamed salon, where there is a log fire out of season. Guests have use of a sunny terrace which is a lovely place to relax with a glass of wine and take in the view. There is also a shady, terraced garden with sun-loungers.
We are sorry but we do not accommodate children.

Locally Grolejac offers 2 restaurants within walking distance (one on the lake and one with a bar), a large lake which is safe for swimming with a sandy beach, tennis court, an excellent cycle path which follows the river valley (we have 2 bikes for hire), canoe hire on the river Dordogne. There are also golf and horse riding facilities close by.
We are approximately 15 min drive from medieval Sarlat, where you can wonder around the cobbled streets and enjoy a meal alfresco. The Bastide town of Domme, riverside villages of La Roque Gageac and Beynac are all within a short drive. Rocamador is approx an hour's drive. We are close to the Lot region, so it is possible to explore the many unspoilt villages that region also has to offer. There is so much to see and do in the beautiful Dordogne that our guests often extend their stay. We look forward to welcoming you to our home at La Cachette.
