ABOUT KLEINMOND, THE TOWN:
Nestled between rugged mountain and the ocean, Kleinmond is a peaceful coastal town, at the edge of a unique biosphere reserve boasting 1600 species of indigeounous plants, and declared one of the planets few “World heritage Areasâ€.
For the tourist it is very conveniently situated being within easy reach of Cape Town to the west, Cape Agulhas (most southern tip of Africa) to the east, and the winelands of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek to the north.
It is renowned for its abundance of lobster in summer, and as a whale watching haven in winter (July to Nov.)
Excellent golf courses in the vicinity, make it a popular golf-holiday destination.
Across the road from KLEINMOND PANORAMA SELF CATERING there are 4 tennis courts, and very popular bowling greens next to it.
Hiking trails with magnificent views lead to rivers and waterfalls (2km away). Botanical gardens, penquin colony and bird sanctuary are nearby attractions.
Sunbathe, swim and canoe at the snow white sandy beach and lagoon, or take long walks along the shore.
Places to visit are the casino at Caledon, with spa and centuries old mineral baths; world class wellness centre (8km); the picture perfect old towns of Greyton and Genadendal; Hermanus with its beautiful shoreline, or Cape Agulhas, most southern tip of Africa where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet, only 175 km. away.
A round trip of 195km will take you to the heart of the winelands through Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, and back along a most scenic marine/mountain drive (the Amalfi of South Africa) with lots of time to dine, taste wine and take pictures as you go.
