Property description
The bustling resort town of Cabarete is situated centrally on the Northern Coast of the Dominican Republic, about 40 km. from the provincial capital called Puerto Plata.
The international airport of Puerto Plata is even closer, being only a 25 minute cab ride away. The next best access is via the airport of Santiago, about a 90 minute drive away.
The town of Cabarete has developed behind a long stretch of sandy beaches, with the western end of the beach favored by board-surfers and kite-surfers, the central area by windsurfers, and the eastern end by those folk looking for a quiet away from it all
vacation. The centre of town is a very walkable stretch of less than a mile in length, where you will find a huge array of shops, bars, restaurants and stores, offering experiences and products from around the world, in keeping with the incredibly vibrant cosmopolitan nature of the town.
Your chosen vacation accommodation is situated at the western end of the central section of town. Turn right at the end of your cul de sac, and you are at the coastal highway in 3 minutes stroll. The access road to the main beach is a little closer in to town, but you
will be wriggling your toes in the sand within a ten minute stroll. The centre of town ( considered to be the BHD bank ), is a 15 minute stroll away, and you pass the main supermarket called “Productos Sosua†on the way.
AT HOME
The Casa Las Gemelas is situated in a cul de sac, just off the beginning of the callejon de la loma street at the western end of central Cabarete.
This is part of a project of 5 private houses, each split into two separate homes, which are a mirror image of each other.
Each building has a shared gravel drive-way, with room for 2 cars.
Each individual home has its own small private walled rear garden set to lawn, and its own private Jacuzzi.
The basic rental unit consists of a two bedroom semi detached home, distributed over ground and first floor. ( On request, it may be possible to also rent the adjoining home
to provide accommodation for a party requiring 3 or 4 bedrooms. In this case, just
deduct 10% from the combined costing ).
These units were only completed in spring 2007, so everything is still in prime condition
as new.You are unlikely to find many midrange rental homes that offer a finishing of this quality and good taste.
The main entrance door opens up onto a large sitting area, and extends into the dining area, from where access to the garden is through 2 sliding full-lemgth glass doors.
Just across from the dining area, and with a handy serving hatch, is the fully equipped kitchen, partly separated from the lounge by saloon style swing doors.A separate ground floor toilet is available for guests.
The furnishings are all top class, and selected with a very careful eye for comfort and tropical styling. All pieces are part of one set, made from local wood and banana leaves.
There is a large 3 seater sofa, 2 deep armchairs and a coffee table facing the handcrafted cabinet housing a color T.V. with DVD playing capability, plus a small micro sound system for radio, CD or cassette.
The dining table has a matching base, and circular glass tabletop, around which are 4 elegant and comfortable dining chairs.
The kitchen is fitted out with elegant counter tops and both the large fridge-freezer and the propane gas stove with 6 burners and full oven are from the top manufacturer “Whirlpoolâ€. Further equipment includes microwave, toaster, blender and filter coffee machine.
Both the kitchen, the living area and the dining area are cooled by separate ceiling fans.
The front bedroom has 2 single beds, built-in closet with mirrored door, chest of drawers and an a/c unit with remote control. The ensuite bathroom has full tub and shower, plus washbasin, wc and fitted cabinet.
The rear bedroom has all the same facilities, though with a queen sized bed,and a ceiling fan. The ensuite bathroom here has a walk in shower, rather than a bath.
Both bedrooms can also be cooled by pedestal fans.
The maid comes twice weekly to clean and change towels. Bed linen is changed weekly.
The house is fitted with an inverter system for emergency power back-up,though please note this does not operate the water heater or the a/c units.

THINGS TO DO
Cabarete is really all about the beach, and what a beach it is !
During the daytime you can take a lazy dip in the ocean, relax on a sunlounger, have drinks brought right to your side, and have a fantastic choice of lunch opportunities from the many bars and restaurants.
In the afternoon, as the wind comes up a little, you can see the ocean come alive with brightly colored windsurfer sails. Eager beginners are well catered for by the many schools, whilst more challenging conditions can be found out towards the reef.
Cabarete usually hosts one round of the world championships during the month of June.
The beaches to the west of Cabarete have recently become a favored haunt of the kite-surfing community, not to forget the board surfers usually to be found around Hideaway
Beach.
In the evening, a relaxed sophistication comes to the fore, as the beachside restauarants
Offer an incredible variety of dining sensations, often with candlelight enhancing the romantic lapping of the waves at water’s edge. Try restaurant hopping, with a different course at each stop along your route !
If you do not want to stray far from home, there are a couple of local stores and a selection of good eateries within a 5 minute walk of the house.
Later still, try your luck at the Cabarete casino, or dance away the frustrations of your losses at their international disco.
Around 10 miles away is the town of Sosua, famed for its scuba and snorkeling,
as well as an even more pulsating nightlife .
Drive around 40 minutes to the east, and discover the superb links golf course
of Playa Grande, or by driving about the same distance to the west, try the Robert Trent Jones course in the purpose-built holiday village of Playa Dorada, where you can also
find a modern shopping plaza, English language cinema, and more casinos and discos.
For seekers of high speed thrills, there is a go-kart track, just before arriving at Playa
Dorada, as well as the chance to hire quadbikes or motorbikes to discover the lush vegetation and rivers in the hills behind Cabarete.
For a gentler exploration of this beautiful and varied island, you can also consider
hiring a car, taking a taxi for the day, or taking part in one of the many guided coach excursions or jeep safaris.
