Property description

TUDOR ROSE MANOR: Sleeps up to 22. 14-beds, 7+ bedrooms, 4-Baths. Just a 4-minute stroll to the waves of the 7-mile Rio Del Mar beach with it's fun deli and fine restaurants and the Seacliff State Park Beach-next door. There are also 10+ bikes, hot tub, croquet yard & much more!
This English Tudor Manor is just the right setting for groups with 8 sleeping on the Ground floor, 10 on the Upper floor and 4 in the Carriage House for a total of up to 22 for a total of 7-bedrooms and 4-full baths, 2 with showers and 2 with tub/showers.
The Ground floor features a nicely appointed kitchen with highly polished granite tiled counters and all new stainless steel appliances including a new gas stove and oven and dishwasher. There is also a large food locker for extra food storage, just outside the back door. The dining room had 2-tables that seat 20 plus 3-counter stools in the dining area for a total of 23. The 1st Bedroom has a Queen, 2nd Bedroom has a California King air-coiled bed. The living room, with newly refinished oak hardwood floors and Persian-style area rug has a 2-Queen Innerspring futons in front of the large wood fireplace. There are lots of games and a large armoire with TV/VCR/DVD and a stereo entertainment center.

The Upper Level has the 3rd Bedroom with redwood floors and 1-Queen bed & a Pack & Play crib/bed in the closet for a little one. The 4th Bedroom has two twin beds-one of which is a "Sleep Number bed" so if you ever wanted to find out what your number is. It is available to try. The 5th bedroom or extra Great room which also has newly refinished oak hardwood floors and area rugs has 2-Queens innerspring futons near the fireplace and upstairs a 36" HighDef Flat screen TV with more of free DVD & VHS videos. This is also the location of a DSL Broadband computer desk with a flat screen monitor & a color copier/fax for your use. You can use the wireless connection in any room of the home if you also bring a laptop. There are 2-folding adult-sized rollaway twin beds for guests that prefer not to share a bed. Most of the beds have electric heating blankets.

The 6th bedroom has 1-Queen bed and is called the Sunshine Room. It also has a private deck with a table, chairs and umbrella. There is a compact yet fully equipped second kitchen on this floor, with a gas stove, microwave, coffee-maker and an extra refrigerator. There is a stackable laundry is located in a small closet off the kitchen.
The detached Carriage House has 1-Calif King Bed, a day bed (for child under 5'), and a sofa. There is also a Cable TV/VCR and stereo w/CD and tapes. This area is often delightfully claimed by the teenagers in the group as their special clubhouse. The third full bathroom with an unlimited hot water shower is adjoining the upstairs carriage house bedroom area.
The 7,000 sq ft yard had a small but fun hot tub, a large croquet lawn in front, several shady oak trees, flowers, a hammock suspended between 2 trees, 3-picnic tables, lots of chairs, and plenty of room to hang up wetsuits and surfboards. These are both a gas and charcoal BBQ. There is also an outside shed with 10+ bicycles with which to enjoy the neighborhood trails.
The 4th bathroom with its fun round shower & unlimited hot water has an outside entrance so it's easy to use from the yard. There is also a hot & cold outside shower for washing off the sand after the beach fun. There is a short ramp available that can be installed at the back door for folks who are not comfortable with walking up stairs and the first floor has a bathroom that most handicapped folks can utilize, though this house it NOT formally rated as "handicapped accessible."
This Manor was built in 1922 for a San Jose doctor and his large family as their beach home. It is currently surrounded by newer large homes & is a short 4-min walk to one of the areas largest sandy beaches (7-miles long) with fire rings for beach bonfires. The Tudor supplies free firewood for both the fireplaces and the beach bonfires. There are also a couple of nice delis near the beach.

Just 4-min levels walk to a large sandy beach that is 7-miles long and includes the Seacliff Beach State Park with it famous wharf and cement ship.
Also within an easy bike ride is the beautiful Forest of Nisene Marks State Park. The park offers rugged semi-wilderness, rising from sea level to steep coastal mountains of more than 2,600 feet. Once the site of logging operations until the 1920s, visitors can still find evidence of logging operations, mill sites and trestles in the park. The land was donated to the state by the Marks family in 1963.
With over 30 miles of trails, hiking, jogging and biking are some of the activities to be enjoyed here. Picnic tables and barbecue pits are available. A trail camp is located six miles from the nearest parking lot.
Close to the entrance of Nisene Marks State Park is the older village of Aptos with its historic Bayview Hotel and Restaurant. Several restaurants from the English Pub, the Britannia Arms with its stone fireplaces, game room and frequent live music, The Sushi on the Run, which makes fresh Sushi to order or you can just grab freshly made favorites to go with hot miso soup for a picnic at their tables or at the nearby beaches. Manuel’s Mexican on Center at the entrance to Seacliff St Beach Park has specialized in Red Snapper for years!! Lot of other shops from small unique specialties to familiar stores like Safeway, Rite Aid, Ace Hardware are all within a couple of miles.
