Beautiful, large, luxury 300 year-old town house set in a lovely village in the south east of the Dordogne region with views over a delightful valley with a 36sqm south facing terrace. The medieval bastide/fortified village of Villefranche du Perigord, has all amenities including a swimming pool, lake, tennis court and petanque/boule area.
The front of the house overlooks the medieval square and is in the centre of the village.
La Maison du Marché Couvert - the House of the Covered Market - has lovely wooden floors and a terracotta entrance and is furnished with antique furnishings throughout making it most suited to adults or families with either older children or a small baby. The property is centrally heated throughout. There are shutters on all front windows. There is also an open fire place in the sitting room.
Bookings are offered for short, weekly, monthly or a longer stay, minimum 3 days, Start dates variable.
The property is fully alarmed for your peace of mind.

Ground Floor:
The front door opens onto a large dining room with stone walls, a long antique dining table and tapestry wall hanging. There are 6 leather dining chairs and 2 leather carvers.
From the Dining room you enter the fully fitted , tiled kitchen. There is a gas hob with electric fan oven, dishwasher and fridge. There are fitted oak cupboards and a double sink. The kitchen is fully equiped with a microwave, kettle, mixer, George Forman Grill, cafetierres and quality china.
The Breakfast room follows from the kitchen. There is a breakfast table and chairs, 2 buffets/sideboards, a rocking chair and desk. There is broadband internet access, a telephone, a CD/MP3 Player and a large selection of Classical Cds. There is also toaster.
The Breakfast room leads by french doors to the large south facing terrace which has fabulous views of the valley.
This 35sqm tiled terrace is furnished with a swinging sofa, garden table, chairs, parasol and flowering planters. The terrace is unoverlooked.
The Sitting Room leads both from the breakfast room and dining room. This large lounge is beautifully furnished and calm and restful. There is a wood-burning open fire. There is a very good selection of books, both historical, factual and fiction which you are welcome to read. The walls are hung with quality paintings, as is the case throughout the property.
The dining room also leads to the Television room where there is a large LCD television with Freeview British channels and some French channels. There is also a DVD/DIVX player, with some DVDs.
Off the TV room is the laundry room/WC cloakroom. Also from the TV room there is an anti-room which is the storeroom with a small chest freezer and a drinks fridge with a further small separate section freezer on top – ideal for ice-creams.
First Floor:
There are three bedrooms for your use.
* Bedroom 1 - Large carpeted bedroom with large 6ft double bed, bed side tables, Wardrobe, chest of drawers and armchair.
* Bedroom 2 – 6 ft double bed with bedside tables, chest of drawers and chair.
* Bedroom 3 - 3 ft bed with a further 3ft bed available underneath, bedside table.
* There is a fully tiled bathroom with a roll-top bath, large shower and WC.
* The large hall at the top of the solid wooden stairs has a huge mahogany tallboy and armchair, making area to sit and read. From this area there is a separate WC and a separate washbasin in a cupboard – with a mirror.
* The private bedroom and study are locked for convenience.
* Shower room with washbasin and toilet.
* WC and washbasin.
Terrace:
The Large tiled terrace is south facing and has delightful views of the countryside, and has the avantage of offering a lot of privacy for enjoying the sun

The Garden:
There is a large garden at the rear, behind the house which can be accessed via the front of the house and crossing a small lane, there is shade from a large cherry tree. The garden has a garden dining table and chairs;This is a beautiful calm area to have siesta after a long lunch
