Thornton House offers you the best of local accommodation in a house that reflects Cambridge’s charm and character.
Thornton House is a single storey Queen Anne style villa built in 1902 using native heart kauri timber and Marseilles roof tiles. It is a prominent central Cambridge landmark with a Historic Places Trust classification.
Cambridge is a small English style town renowned for its trees, architecture, crafts and antiques and local thoroughbred industry.

We have two luxurious guest rooms with adjoining ensuites, both decorated in English country style. These are situated at one end of the house, with our living space at the other.

The Garden Room is a large elegant room that opens out on to the veranda overlooking a secluded cottage garden. It has a queen and single bed and a large (big enough for two) clawfoot bath.

The smaller Blue Room is warm and inviting, the focal point being its queen antique brass bed.

In both rooms only the finest linen and fittings have been used. These include crisp white cotton sheets and luxurious white towels and bath robes. Each room has tea and coffee making facilities, CD/tape/radio, electric blankets, feather duvets and woollen blankets, hair dryer, toiletries, fresh flowers and complimentary chocolates.
We serve a full gourmet breakfast either in your room, in the dining room or alfresco in the garden. Wedding nights and other occasions are a speciality as we will make your stay memorable.

Thornton House is centrally located opposite Lake Te Kotu, very easy to find and walking distance to the café’s, restaurants, shops etc.
