Property description:
Set on the shores of Cayuga Lake amidst a tiny heritage village in the heart of the Finger Lakes, the Aurora Inn has a pedigree dating back to 1833. The original Federal-style country inn has been exquisitely restored with understated elegance and a recent multimillion dollar renovation.
From the moment you step in the front door, you know you are in a world apart. Four fireplaces, rich woods, antiques, Oriental rugs and an uncommonly fine art collection offer visitors a warm welcome.
The Inn offers ten luxurious guest rooms, each individually decorated with designer fabrics and furnishings that place an emphasis on comfort. All have marble bathrooms with terrycloth robes and thick towels, comfortable lounge chairs, writing tables wired for high speed internet access and beautiful armoirs with flat-panel televisions tucked inside.
Most rooms have balconies furnished with rockers, benches or swings to sit and look out over the lake or the charming village below. Some have inviting fireplaces, small kitchens or deep whirlpools that allow guests to look up at the stars.
Our stunning new restaurant is one of the few places to dine on the water in the Finger Lakes. Its lakeside porch, veranda and candlelit dining room afford breathtaking views of Cayuga Lake and the surrounding countryside and vineyards. During cooler months, fires crackle in a quartet of fireplaces, and our sunsets are extraordinary year-round. We invite you to join us.

Start by exploring the historic village of Aurora, home of Wells College, which was founded in 1868 by Henry Wells of Wells Fargo stagecoach fame.
Spend an afternoon at nearby MacKenzie-Childs, the renowned maker of whimsical handcrafted tableware and home furnishings. Take a weekday tour to watch the artisans at work, stroll through the gardens, shop in the store or eat in the exceptional restaurant there.
Ask the Inn to pack a lunch basket and head out for the wine trails around Cayuga and Seneca Lakes that lead to dozens of vineyards with tasting rooms and georgous picnic areas.
Visit the Women's Rights National Historical Park. Take a barge ride on the Erie Canal. Explore country roads on bicycles provided by the Inn. Hunt for antiques. Go fishing or boating on the sparkling blue waters of Cayuga Lake. Whatever you choose, Aurora awaits your visit.
