Retreat to a secluded getaway vacation farm rental house in the Blue Ridge Mountains Of Virginia. Enjoy waking up to the rosters crow and the cows low. Forget about the smoke and the smog, breath deeply of the fresh air that flows down the side of the famous Peaks Of Otter in Virginia. Hike through the hills on the trails that have been used for many centuries by both man and beast. Watch a baby sheep or calf look for momma. The rambling 19th-Century farmhouse is furnished as if someone stepped out in the 1930's or 40's, yet it has all the modern conveniences of home. The farmhouse is completely furnished to accommodate groups, families, and couples.
The home has 5 bedrooms and sleeps up to 14 guests. Three of the bedrooms each have 2 double beds, one bedroom has 2 bunk beds (4 beds), and another bedroom has a single bed and a twin baby bed. The house also has a living room, dining room, 2 bathrooms, and plenty of porches for sitting. The fully-equipped kitchen has a dishwasher, coffee maker, microwave, dishes, and pots and pans. The home also has a washer/dryer, phone, TV, central air and a VCR. Linens and towels are provided.
The property has a children's playhouse, barbecue grill, horseshoes, and a seasonal farm store. It also has creeks for wading, and ponds for fishing. There is an on farm winery also on the farm.

Rates details: weekly $500.00 Base price plus $50.00 for each person or pet.
Winter week-end getaway, $250.00 Base plus $25.00 for each person or pet.
Reservations; $250. deposit required. One half due 30 days prior to arrival and the rest due upon arrival plus taxes. Deposit is non refundable, however we will send you a coupon for $250 that can be used as a deposit at some future date within a year.
Our week runs from 3:30 p.m. Monday until 9 a.m. Monday.
Week-ends run from Friday 3:30 p.m. until 9 a.m. Monday, November thru April, except holidays and other times not rented for the week.

Elmo's Rest is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, at the foot of the Peaks of Otter. We are only a 5-7 hour drive from New York NY, Atlanta GA, Philadelphia PA, Nashville, TN. and a 4 -5 hour drive from Washington DC, Charlotte NC, Virginia Beach VA, and 3 hours from Richmond, VA and Raleigh NC.In the early 1900's, Elmo Johnson and his wife Freddie lived and raised their family in the house. They planted their first apple tree in 1919. The secluded home is in the middle of 250 acres of orchards, lush pastures, and shady woods. It is located a ½-mile from the nearest dwelling. It is surrounded by the animals that you would expect to find on a self-sufficient farm of that era. Animals include cattle, horses, burros, dogs, cats, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, and turkeys.From the first blossom of Spring, to creek wading in Summer, to the last crisp apple of Fall, to the snow-covered hills of Winter, there is a time for you to relax or be active.
