Enjoy Summer Days Spent On A Mountain Lake
You've been working hard all year and now you deserve a week or more of luxury on a lake this summer. Come to the Queen of The Lake. Why rent a room when you can rent a home away from home, with plenty of space to be as active or lazy as you want.
The Queen of the Lake’s magic starts when you arrive. The views of the lake and mountains will take your breath away. Spend your first day unwinding, soaking up some sun and splashing in the swimming area then planning supper at one of the nearby restaurants, but make sure you're home to watch the sunset from the boathouse.
On Day 2, stop at the local visitor center for some brochures and then take a short jaunt up to Chimney Rock State Park. You can hike the trails and study the wildlife as you reach the summit where you can enjoy the panoramic views. Undoubtedly you'll want to spend some more time working on your tan or maybe fishing off the dock for fish you can grill on the spacious decks tonight.
By Day 3 you'll be ready to travel a little further, and explore Biltmore--America's largest privately owned home. Get an early start to beat the crowds, but you can relax, no one's going to ask you to see all 250 rooms. Instead, take the audio tour and have an afternoon snack at the Vineyard. Maybe tonight is a night to play one of the board games or just spend some quiet time together.
Day 4 is perfect for a tour of the lake. Lake Lure Tours has boats departing every hour on the hour during the season. You'll learn a little bit of the history and a lot of the gossip. Then, you can chase a few golf balls around Bald Mountain or Apple Valley golf courses. Or maybe just do a quick 9 holes at the municipal course. Try another of the local restaurants for dinner tonight. Point of View, Lago Del Mar, The Lake Lure Smokehouse and The Lake Lure Inn, among others.
By Day 5 some folks get a little frantic when they realize the week is almost gone. This is the day to go skiing or wakeboarding with Lake Lure Adventure Company. After all that fun, you'll welcome the comfortable beds a little earlier than usual tonight.
Day 6 will be a good day to rent a pontoon boat from Rumbling Bald Resort and just putter around the lake, visiting the dam and the coves that weren't included on the earlier tour. Maybe even making up some of your own gossip about the homes you'll see. Larkin's on the Lake is a perfect place to conclude this day with a view of the water as the day ends.
Day 7 dawns and you realize that it's time to head back home. Hopefully you've taken a lot of pictures and posted them on Facebook so all your friends will be jealous.
As you drive away, you'll promise yourself that you'll come back to the Queen of The Lake.
