Property description

Get the best of both worlds: all the comforts of home and extra perks of a vacation rental, with all the amenities, security and support of a hotel. If you book through us, we work with the resort's front desk to ensure you get the best rate possible with a non-movable reservation in the specific apartment we own. You can pick your key up at the front desk, and you don't have to play "room roulette" hoping you'll get a condo you like. Individually owned and decorated condo's are great because they usually have many extras and a "put your feet up" feel you won't find in a hotel. But you really need to look before you book, and then guarantee you will be placed in the exact unit you want.

We enjoy our condo ourselves, and are sure you willl, too. We've added all the little things that make this a home away from home, right down to binoculars and a telescope for viewing pelicans and hang gliders through the floor to ceiling glass living room wall.

Our unit is the only one in Forest Dunes Resort with an electric fireplace, which can be operated with or without heat for ambiance. There's nothing quite like pouring a glass of wine at the wet bar, sprawling on the sofa, turning on the TV and "lighting a fire" to end the day well...unless of, course, you opt to watch the sun go down on the balcony.

Since our family visits as often as we can, we make sure there are always good supplies of cooking and serving equipment, as well as DVD's, games, books, and puzzles. In other words, you can be confident that you will have everything you need because if it's something you want, we probably do, too! But if there is ever anything you find missing or would have liked to have had, just send us an email or leave a note in our guestbook--we'll try to have it for you next time you come.

We think of Forest Dunes Resort as a small gem. There are many resorts that are bigger, noisier, and more frenetic, but we like Forest Dunes just the way it is -- a place to relax and enjoy friends, family, and nature. It's a great place to plan reunions, birthday parties, and other special events because it's small enough to host intimate gatherings, but large enough to have enough accommodations for all. And since we know which units are the nicest, we'd always be happy to help make arrangements. You do need to know, though, that the entire resort went smoke free this year.

When we are ready to wade into the fray and look for fun, we know just where to go. Myrtle Beach has marvelous shows (watch out Broadway), restaurants, and activities for young and old. Try riding a Segway or taking a helicopter ride for the first time. Go horseback riding on the beach in the off season. Ever been deep sea fishing? You can even see how you luck is running on a gaming ship dinner cruise. You'll find many suggestions in our guest book for things to see and do.

But the beach is really what it's all about. The weather is often mild in the winter, sometimes bouncing into the 70's on a given day. You'll see folks walking along the shore, sitting in the sand reading or just watching, and a few will even brave the cold water a bit.

During the summer, this stretch of beach is less crowded than others. There's plenty of room for beach chairs, beach towels, and umbrellas.

But spring and fall might be the best months of all-- the water warms quickly and cools slowly. Summer crowds are gone and the roads, stores, restaurants, shows, and other venues are yours to explore.

Monthly rentals are available during the winter at the lowest rates, while summer prime season rentals will be at the high end.
