Visiting Cuba? Read brief travel information about the country.

Cuba has undergone a transformation since it first opened its doors to global tourism. It changed the image of an inaccessible or off-limits country, worth visiting today for its epic colonial architecture, Che Guevara murals, salsa dancers and white powder sandy beaches.
Situated in the Northern Caribbean, Cuba is the most populated country. 51% of the citizens are mulatto. Catholicism prevails in a multitude of faiths reflecting the island’s diverse cultural elements.
The island has a tropical climate moderated by surrounding waters. The average temperature is 21 °C in January and 27 °C in July. It is a place of frequent hurricanes due to warm temperatures of the Caribbean Sea and the fact that Cuba blocks almost completely the access to the Gulf of Mexico. Most destructive storms are common for such months as September and October.
The official currency is Cuban Convertible Peso. US 1$ = 0, 93 CUC
The largest city (with the population over two million) and capital is Havana. It boasts an old town featuring UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The surrounding 19th-century district of densely packed, crumbling houses and narrow streets has its own appeal. The Museo de la Ciudad and the recently opened Palacio del Segundo Cabo, former residence of the Captains General are overlooking the neighboring Plaza de Armas that boast wonderful rooftop views. The splendidly refurbished rooms of the Museo de Arte Colonial are also worth a visit. Havana’s best beach, the Playas del Este, is about 20km from the center. If you want to experience the local culture better stay at a bed and breakfast in Havana.
One of the most heavily promoted towns of the island is Camaguey. Its attractions include a number of museums, churches and peso market. The city lies in the center of a fertile plain used for sugar plantations. Jardines del Rey is the Camagüey’s archipelago with its 20km of sand beaches the best known of which are Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo.
The travelers have the opportunity to experience the common life of Cubans but also to visit unexplored sites. The most noteworthy in this respect is the rapid growth of private accommodation, refurbished hotels opening across the country.
